Treks and Daily trips

BEFORE WE BEGIN...

When a person goes on a hike, there is a starting point and a finish point.

The finish point can be a hill top, the beach, an impressive ancient fortress, camping ground or a trail that takes him back to his car. Most of us want to reach the finish line just in order to say that we succeeded. As we finish our trek we usually calculate the distance we covered, look back at the beautiful but challenging day we went through, wipe off the sweat and appreciate the wisdom which that experience taught us.

But why should we wait until we finish our hike?

Why not try to live in the moment and Experience all the nature has to offer while we are in it?

My belief is that the objective is not destination but rather the journey (not only while hiking but in life as well) and when you keep that in mind while hiking your experience is far richer than words like- "Hiking" or "Trekking".

In the treks and journeys I lead I like to focus on the rocks, plants, animals, people and the great puzzle they all take part in. Every trip has a topic that frames the experience and will be our point of referents during our time outdoors. We will explore it and if we are lucky learn to look at our lives with a different perspective.

 Following the rocks

 A very unique trek exploring

the geological structure of the volcanic Golan Heights, How a hand full of volcanoes a few million years ago affected history even until today.

The hike will begin with a climb up one of the most impressive canyons in the north of the Golan, we will reach the altitude of 630 meters and then hop on vehicles and drive through various look points and geological phenomena's in order to understand the broader picture of how the region was formed. At the end of the trip we reach David Fine's work shop were we will drink a good cup of coffee and meet one of the leading stone sculptures in Israel.

Recommended season: Beginning of Autumn until the end of Spring (depending on the weather)

Mount Hermon

We have numerus mountains in the land of Israel but a mountain like the Hermon we have only one. A mountain ridge of 1000 square kilometers that divides between two different climates and is home to more than 250 different species of plants. The southern part of ridge ends in the north side of the Golan Heights and we know it by the name of Mount Hermon.

I invite you to an amazing trek at the altitude of 2072 meters above sea level and hike down to the beautiful village of Neve Ativ located at the foot hills of the mountain.

A day long hike with a focus on the various climates and vegetation belts that the mountain has to offer- from the cold alpine environment to a warmer Mediterranean environment all in just a few hour hike. We will learn how humans cope with such a dramatic change and how it affected their lives throughout history and until today.

The mysteries of the Odem Forest

Odem forest is a natural oak forest in the northern part of the Golan Heights. Every person who lays his eyes on the forest is intrigued by it. What's so special about this place?

The land scape of the forest is full Craters, ancient water cisterns, black soil and even the trees are organized in a unique way.

Sometimes the forest suddenly covers with mist and fog and in the winter it all turns white because of the snow.

A very interesting and beautiful tour exploring volcanic phenomena's, ancient ruins, a rich wild life and the connection between all of them.

Recommended season: all year round depending on weather.

Duration: about 4 hours, There is a possibility of adding additional lookouts and natural springs.

The high Negev Mountain and the wesrern part of Machtesh Ramon

..

The Ramon crater and the craters of the Negev desert in general are a unique phenomenon.  The source of this is not a meteor that fell from the sky or an earthquake but rather a primordial\ancient tectonic force- that serves as our window to the past. The secret is to know how to see it.

You are welcome to join us for a 2 day trek in the western part of the Ramon crater and the mounteins surounding it, there we will develop tools in order to help us decipher its secrets, explore the desert plants, try to track wild life and most importantly discover the desert silence and learn to embrace it.

Recommended season: beginning of autumn to the end of spring.

My daily trips and treks  program

I

The Judean desert Lays between jerusalem, north of the Negev and the Dead Sea, he offers a variety of wild life and springs.

His unique geologic structure forms a sistem of high cliffs. People throughout history have used those cliffs  for refuge from cruel empires or to hide from the metirial life in the cities and try their luck in secret cults or remote monasteries.

this 2 deys trek  cross the judean desert from the toun "arad" in the west  to  the daed see in the east through one of the most dramatics  canyons this desert has to offer "wadi tzeelim".

while treking we will explore the uniqe ecosystem of the area, inhale fresh desert air and silence, dip in the  cold water sources along the way and drink a lot of arabian coffee.

If all goes as planned we will  finish the day with a cold beer on the Dead sea.
